Tracked tractors, also known as “chain tractors” or “crawler tractors”, are a type of tractor.
The traveling device is composed of a guiding wheel, a follower wheel, a supporting wheel, a driving wheel, and a crawler belt. During operation, the drive wheel winds up the track and the roller move forward or backward on the track of the track.

Working principle for Crawler tractor
Unlike a wheeled tractor, the tracked type is supported on the ground by a wound endless track. The track contacts the ground, the shank is inserted into the soil. And the driver is not grounded. The driving wheel is continuously driven by the driving torque and the meshing between the gear teeth on the driving wheel and the track pin.
When the crawler tractor is working, the track is rolled up from the rear. The grounding part of the track gives the ground a backward force. And the corresponding reaction force Pk is also required to be given to the track. This Pk reaction is the driving force for propelling the tractor forward. The driving force of the wheeled tractor is transmitted directly to the walking wheel.
Since the drive wheel continuously rolls the track section forward and then lays it on the ground via the guide wheel. The roller can continuously roll on the track laid with the track. It can be seen that the crawler tractor is realized by the driving torque passing through the driving wheel to make the interaction between the crawler belt and the ground. And the driving force is greater than the sum of the rolling resistance and the traction resistance.
The maximum driving force is the same as that of a wheeled tractor. Which depends on the ability of the internal combustion engine on the one hand and the attachment conditions between the track and the ground on the other hand. In general, the greater the power of the tractor, the greater the driving force. There are many factors affecting adhesion. In terms of the structure of the tractor itself, the reasonable selection of the shape and size of the spurs and the crawler belt.
And the increase of the weight of the crawler belt within a certain limit can improve the adhesion and increase the traction of the tractor. The rolling resistance of the crawler tractor is formed by the deformation of the soil in the vertical direction and the mutual friction between the parts of the walking system. Which reduces the rolling resistance and increases the traction of the tractor.
